{"id":571,"date":"2017-01-14T14:06:18","date_gmt":"2017-01-14T14:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/?p=571"},"modified":"2017-01-14T14:20:50","modified_gmt":"2017-01-14T14:20:50","slug":"ace-squad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/?p=571","title":{"rendered":"Ace Squad!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the 11th of December 2016 I tried out for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.awesomewalls.co.uk\/climbing-centres\/sheffield\/sheffield-overview-page\">Awesome Walls<\/a>\u00a0Ace\u00a0Squad\u00a0and, thankfully, I got in!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/ace1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-578\" src=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/ace1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"ace1\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/ace1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/ace1.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Exactly a month later on the 11th of January we had our first training session.\u00a0 Well it was more of a test really, not a bad, scary test just one to figure out what we need to do to improve and also see if we have any injuries that the coach&#8217;s would need to be conscious of whilst training.<\/p>\n<p>First we did a few arm exercises to see if it hurt any joints, I felt a few twinges but nothing to worry about I&#8217;m sure.<\/p>\n<p>Next we did the one thing I was not looking forward to, plank test!\u00a0 I was really gutted with this as I got distracted and my form got worse so I was called off. I got 1min 53seconds which I&#8217;m disappointed with as I know I could have got a lot better \ud83d\ude41 .<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"detail\" title=\"View image details\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com\/images\/search?q=plank+exercise&amp;view=detailv2&amp;&amp;id=06F293985AE08B79B6A7409FA56E16B0B5C78CCE&amp;selectedIndex=1&amp;ccid=h5b7ObR%2b&amp;simid=608045079822535731&amp;thid=OIP.M8796fb39b47e5aa27b34d5eb44a78491o0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tse1.mm.bing.net\/th?&amp;id=OIP.M8796fb39b47e5aa27b34d5eb44a78491o0&amp;w=300&amp;h=200&amp;c=0&amp;pid=1.9&amp;rs=0&amp;p=0&amp;r=0\" data-bm=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we did a flexibility test where I had one foot in front of the other and I had to try and make my front foot come as far back as it can with my knee touching the wall in front of me and my front foot&#8217;s heel on the floor.\u00a0 I did quite well and my foot was 17cm away from the wall which is considered quite good.\u00a0 This made me feel better from the plank test.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mainImage accessible nofocus\" tabindex=\"0\" title=\"View source image\" src=\"http:\/\/fixkneepain.martinkoban.netdna-cdn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/joint-mobility-dorsiflexion-drill.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for ankle flexibility exercises against wall\" data-bm=\"58\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We then did a balance test where we had to balance on one foot with our eyes closed.
