For Young Climber&#8217;s Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next Saturday I have\u00a0the first of three \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebmc.co.uk\/bmc-youth-climbing-series\">Young Climber&#8217;s Series<\/a>\u00a0by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebmc.co.uk\/\">BMC<\/a>\u00a0which lead up to\u00a0a national final in Ratho.\u00a0 The top three scoring competitors qualify for the final and I have qualified three times in the previous years.\u00a0 I usually start my preparation a week before the actual competition and that is what today&#8217;s blog post is going to be about.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the Monday before a competition I would usually climb after school like I normally do but I would do a hard session that would make me really tired.\u00a0 I do this because I usually have one or two really hard sessions a week, the others are hard but not as long or demanding, so I want to get my hardest session in as far away from the competition as I can so that I am not tired on the day.\u00a0 On Monday I would\u00a0also\u00a0try to get to bed early so that I have the maximum amount of energy that I need for the style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Tuesday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday is usually a rest day but I would still do some conditioning at the gym to stay on top of my training plan and underline;\"><strong>Wednesday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday would usually be my last hard session and my last leading session before the comp so I always try to climb like it&#8217;s a competition in this session.\u00a0 I would try to go to bed especially early\u00a0on Wednesday as\u00a0that is when the competition seems really close so I start taking it more style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Thursday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday I would probably go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climbingworks.com\/\">The Climbing Works<\/a>\u00a0for a light session on the circuit board or I would just do a few REALLY hard climbs with limited attempts to mimic what\u00a0it would be like at a comp.\u00a0I would also do a small amount of conditioning. \u00a0That night I would\u00a0usually pack\u00a0my bag with all the extra competition things that I need\u00a0so that I am not stressed the\u00a0next day and head to bed a little later than usual\u00a0but not late enough for me to feel it on the Saturday.
