{"id":657,"date":"2017-02-08T11:08:20","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T11:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/?p=657"},"modified":"2017-02-08T17:01:12","modified_gmt":"2017-02-08T17:01:12","slug":"biff-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/?p=657","title":{"rendered":"BIFF-2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WARNING: Some costumes may not be appropriate for younger readers!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday the 28th of January I went to possibly the most amazing and entertaining competition that I have ever watched, the BIFF (Beastmaker International Footless Festival). \u00a0If you don&#8217;t know what the BIFF is, it is a climbing competition where you are not allowed to use your legs. \u00a0You must get up the climb by pulling up on the holds with your hands\/arms only.<\/p>\n<p>I watched the semi-final and final at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climbingworks.com\/\">The Climbing Works<\/a>\u00a0where there were some &#8216;interesting&#8217;\u00a0costumes!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/pete_climbing.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-686 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/pete_climbing-196x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/pete_climbing-196x300.png 196w, https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/pete_climbing-669x1024.png 669w, https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/pete_climbing.png 760w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_9c33.jpg\">\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spiderman.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-678 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spiderman-196x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spiderman-196x300.png 196w, https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spiderman-670x1024.png 670w, https:\/\/emilytheclimber.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/spiderman.png 760w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It was really busy in the semi-final but nobody minded as there was a great atmosphere and it was fantastic to see how everyone tried the climbs differently. \u00a0These lasted for about\u00a0\u00a0two hours\u00a0and every so often me and my friend would go and try one of the climbs. This is a video of me doing one:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V3nn-Mle3fE\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When the scores had been tallied and challenges set, the finals were ready to begin. \u00a0The first challenge was a speed climb, still with no legs of course, \u00a0where the winner stayed on until the next round.<\/p>\n<p>Then it was &#8216;The Strong Jump&#8217; where the competitors took it in turns to swing double handed from one bar to another.
